DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S HEART (2)

DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S HEART (2)

1 Sam 13:14 - "As it is, your kingly rule is already falling to pieces. God is out looking for your replacement right now. This time he'll do the choosing. When he finds him, he'll appoint him leader of his people. And all because you didn't keep your appointment with God! "

His Humbleness

At a time in David's life he called himself a "dead dog" and a "flea" (1 Sam 24:15) He also called himself a "partridge" which the king wanted to catch (1 Sam 26:20) He calls himself a poor and lowly man (1 Sam 18:23).

David danced before the his Lord to say thank you when they brought the ark into Jerusalem (2 Sam 6:14) His wife who was more focused on the image of man felt loathed in her heart for him. She was angry for his shameful behaviour (according to her), she thought it was indecently to do that before his God. She asked him about his indecent behaviour and he answered her as follows - 2 Sam 6:21 - "And David said to Michal, I was dancing before the Lord, who put me over your father and all his sons, to make me a ruler over the people of the Lord, over his people Israel: and I will go on playing before the Lord" Meaning - David does not think highly of himself, that's why he danced with the other children of God.

In 2 Sam 7 God reveal to David that his family's seed will be the kings of Israel, providing they will serve their God. He was so humble that God said that to him that he answered God in 2 Sam 7:18 - "Then David the king went in and took his seat before the Lord, and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have been my guide till now?" David did not forget where he came from. He said in Psalm 78:71 - " From looking after the sheep which were giving milk, he took him to give food to Jacob his people, and to Israel his heritage." Humbleness means that you are nothing in yourself, but that God is everything.

Dr Andrew Murray says in his book Humbleness that "humility is the beauty of holiness" He says that if you have humility you have everything.

Isaiah 57:15 - "For this is the word of him who is high and lifted up, whose resting-place is eternal, whose name is Holy: my resting-place is in the high and holy place, and with him who is crushed and poor in spirit, to give life to the spirit of the poor, and to make strong the heart of the crushed."

Who is the candidate of revival? The humble ones. Only God gets the glory!

PRAYER
