1 Sam 13:14 - "As it is, your kingly rule is already falling to pieces. God is out looking for your replacement right now. This time he'll do the choosing. When he finds him, he'll appoint him leader of his people. And all because you didn't keep your appointment with God! "

Acts 13:22 - "God removed him from office and put King David in his place, with this commendation: 'I've searched the land and found this David, son of Jesse. He's a man whose heart beats to my heart, a man who will do what I tell him."

I have wondered about why God would of said that David is a man after His heart? The books that I have read says that David would not worship idols, he would of been a better king that Saul, and he would stay with the instructions of Moses.

But David did sin if you look at the story of Bathsheba. And from their one can learn a great lesson. Even though you are a child of God, you must always be alert to stay on God's road of salvation. But praise the Lord, David has recovered, and in the end that is very important for us to know.

But the term "a man close to God's heart is something to strive for! David is the only one in the Bible that is called that. Go and look for yourself. The first human name in the New Testament and the last in the Bible is David. It tells us of the greatness of David.

If we look at the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew, then he is the only king that was called king in the Bible. There was a lot of kings in Judah and Israel, but only David had the title king.

David's son was Solomon and he was a very wise king, and he was wealthy. But he never was called king. Jehoshaphat ordered singers before a fight so dance and sing, and they won, but not even he was called king. Hezekiah's life was lengthen  with 15 years when he asked God for it, but not even he was called king in the genealogy of Matthew.  Only David...!

The Lord Jesus is called the Son of David - Mat 1:1 - "The book of the generations of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." Jesus is the Son of the others as well, but it's not mentioned in the same way.

Lord, I do not only want to improve my knowledge, but my heart’s desire is to live closer to You ...Amen!
